Charlie Fun To Do

I hate to suggest potty humor for a holiday activity, but with FROSTY AND FRIENDS coming up, I couldn't resist this fun activity with a few rolls of toilet paper to add more festive friends for our Frosty. It's a perfect way to celebrate after an afternoon at DCT.

Work in teams of two and wrap the smaller member of the team with toilet paper until they are covered, snowman-style. Take hats, scarves, anything you'd use to decorate a snowman. Have a non-partial judge (like granny) decide who made the best snowman, or just celebrate with a snowman dance and some holiday goodies! Then (if you're super-frugal like me) recycle that TP for the kids' bathroom!

One of the most iconic images of Charlie Brown's Christmas special is the tree that goes from a droopy mess to a legit Tannenbaum with a little love. It's funny how a little love helps all of us who feel like a droopy mess during the holidays. Share this adorable keepsake with those who need some love.

What you'll need:

Canvas or heavy paper
Craft paint: green, red, tan, brown
Paint brush or sponge
Paper plate and baby wipes (to minimize mess)
* Squirt a quarter-size drop of paint on a paper plate.
* Paint your child's hand completely green and press it down on the canvas.
* Paint a bending thin tree trunk coming from the palm of the handprint to the tree base
* To finish off the Handprint Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Keepsake - add a red Christmas ball coming from the green handprint and add a dot pattern the canvas's edge to give it a festive look. Painting with fingers is perfect for this part!

DCT Mom thoughts

My family loves going to the theater during the holidays. This year as DCT looks at all the ways we FIND OUR WAY HOME, we celebrate the different meanings of home. It's more than the walls that house our stuff. It's a place to feel safe and peaceful with those we love most. Sometimes we take pieces of home with us, and we also like to feel at home when we visit other places. Dallas Children's Theater likes to make families and all kids feel at home because we are here just for them. Our staff are all friends and as we spend most of our days together at DCT, it feels like a home-away-from-home. Those smiles you see on our faces when you come in are very real! We hope that love spreads to our audiences because we do care so much about you.

Of course we want you to enjoy your time at the theater, but these activities are for you to enjoy while you are at home, and hopefully bring a little DCT fun into your quality time together. And of course we all wish you a very merry holiday season!
