It can be shocking to introduce a new element into your comfortable home, and BLUE addresses this issue in a way that is perfect for the littlest theatergoers. Plan on some questions and perhaps some surprising insight from your preschooler on the way home. At home, consider this fun activity as a way of teaching your children about the benefits of variety and difference.

I know laundry is rarely fun, but this sorting socks game is perfect for curious little hands that enjoy surprises. This game suggests creating felt socks, but if you'd like to actually put your kids to work, use your own multi-colored socks that are so popular now and have your kids match them up.

Miss Mary made a very fancy felt dryer, but you can use any container that keeps the "socks" somewhat hidden; perhaps even an empty tissue box.

Yes, if all your socks were blue, it would make sorting much easier, but it wouldn't be nearly as interesting!

DCT Mom thoughts

I'm not good at following directions, and I'm bashful, so sometimes I find it hard to walk up to a stranger and introduce myself. I've decided that everyone is a little bit bashful, but that no one has ever been annoyed by someone saying hello. It takes bravery sometimes for a kid to meet a grownup. Chances are if you reach your hand out first, they'll be quick to follow. It's not just a way to be polite, but often it can lead to making new and different friends.

This season as we Find Our Way Home, we see how our environment, experiences, and our relationships are ultimately what makes home feel like the place we belong. And if your home is like mine, it is filled with people with differing opinions and preferences that should be celebrated. We hope you embrace the joy of teaching and learning using resources in your own backyard!
